The SRTS program was created to encourage more children to walk and bicycle to school and to make it safer for them to do so.  This federally funded program will provide reimbursements to cities, counties, school districts, and other entities for projects that focus around education, encouragement, enforcement, engineering, and evaluation.

There will be three workshops around the state that will provide more information about the program and answer questions concerning the application.  If you would like to attend a workshop, please RSVP Becky Pepper, KDOT (785-296-8593/ rpepper@ksdot.org).  The times and locations of the workshops are as follows:
·         February 20th, Hays, 1:30-3:30
·         February 22nd, Bonner Springs, 1:30-3:30
·         February 23rd, Wichita, 1:30-3:30

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns on this matter.

Subject: fiscal year 2014 Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Set-Aside Program

Dear Transportation Partner:

With this email and attachments I would like to announce that The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is now accepting applications for the fiscal year 2014 Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Set-Aside Program. Please find attached the letter from Secretary of Transportation.

ITS uses electronics, computers, sensors, communications, and management strategies to improve roadway safety and transportation system efficiency. The goal of the ITS Set-Aside Program is to promote ITS within the state by funding research and technology applications.

In order to distribute these funds, the ITS Unit is soliciting project requests. All applications should be submitted on the KDOT ITS Set-Aside Program FY2014 Project Request Form(attached), and should include a detailed description of the project. Submit completed electronic forms to David Behzadpour at davidbeh@ksdot.org no later than March 9, 2012.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

 Thanks.
